Beten ward now new champions of BUC, beats Ugboro ward 3 - 1to Emerge winner.

The annual football tournament, organized by General Emmanuel Ejim Emekah, reached it Peak  with the final played between Beten and Ugboro wards on the 31st of December,2023.
The novelty/unity tournament, kickoff time for the finals was 3:40 p.m.  and to kickstart the match the first lady to the General Mrs. Ejime Emekah took the kickoff thereby opening the beginning of the finals, that took place at the home town of Gen. E. Emekah, the venue was, St. Clement Primary School Ugboro.

Major General, Emmanuel Emekah who is the initiator of The Bekwarra Unity Cup tournament, in his votes of thanks noted that the tournament is not for rivalry amongst communities but to encourage peace and unity, so there was no Victor or vanquish and every team that participated is a winner as all will go with a prize and cash award, he use the opportunity to thank all that made this year edition a success as the event has become, one that friends and associates keep looking forward to.
The players kitted in colourful Jersey the Two teams that made it to the finals worn yellow and white vest  respectively Beten on Yellow while Ugboro were on White.

This tournament was initiated since when the general was a Lt. colonel over seven years now and every year it seem to take a new dimension and gather more momentum.

Speaking to Newsmen, Mrs Emekah said the ideas behind the tournament is to Foster unity and bring about peace and development among the people of Bekwarra local government. Chairman of the tournament Mr. Augustine Ola A re echoes the Stands of Mrs Emekah While adding that the tournament will help and discover young talents  across the LGA, and in turn achieve the idea of building  a formidable Bekwarra football team through this talent Hunt.
others dignitaries who came to watch the football fiesta including the representative of the State Governor Bassey Otu, Senior Special Advisor to the Governor on Security North elder Achu Olayi, thanked General Emekah for sustaining the tournament as he noted that it has also help in reducing youths restiveness  in the LGA. in the part of the Vice Chairman Cross River State NYCN and State Chairman Cross River State NURTW Amb. Comr. Anthony Idoko described the tournament as very fantastic while given kudos to the initiator and organizers of the tournament, he asked the General to also extend this good gesture to include enrollment of young people into the military.

Dignitaries present at the finals of the Bekwarra Unity Cups include the paramount ruler of Bekwarra, HRH. Odey Linus Ogbeche and other clan heads, sarkin Hausa Ogoja,
top Military brass and many notable Politicians, with mammoth crowd of spectators who came to witness and enjoy themselves to the display of youthful skills exhibited by the players.
The highlight, was the presentation of various prizes including bags of rice and award to top finished team, best player, best coach, youngest player, best goalkeeper and all participating teams were given 25,000 Naira each.
